Steering Committee

The Steering Committee has broad responsibility for the entire Self-Study process and the production of a process and document that is inclusive and representative of UMBC. Led by the Self-Study Co-Chairs, this group is comprised of the Working Group Co-Leads, the Evidence Inventory Lead, as well as shared governance representatives from the student population and the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. This group of campus leadership will provide oversight and approval of the process at key points and ensure sufficient resources are available to complete the study.

Core Team

The purpose of the Core Support Team is to organize, guide and support the work of the Steering Committee and Working Groups. This team is comprised of the Self-Study Co-Chairs (liaisons for Standards I, II, VI & VII), the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs (liaison for Standards III & V, a representative from Student Affairs (liaison for Standard IV), a communications and logistics lead, the lead of the Evidence Inventory Committee, and a representative from information technology.

Working Groups

Our Self-Study is designed around seven Working Groups, one for each Standard of Accreditation. Each Working Group will have two co-leads, an administrator and a faculty member with relevant experience and expertise in the area of the Standard. For Standard I, Mission and Goals, we anticipate having three co-leads from the Faculty Senate, Professional Staff Senate and Non-Exempt Staff Senate. Working Group members will be identified by the Co-Leads, working in close consultation with the Self-Study Co-Chairs and other campus leaders, as well as through a process of voluntary self-identification and interest. Each Working Group shall have representation from faculty, staff and student populations, where appropriate.

Evidence Inventory Committee

The Evidence Inventory Committee assists Self-Study Working Groups by helping to identify and fulfill data and information needs as they arise. This group will help tie contents of the University Knowledge Management Repository with the Evidence Inventory required by Middle States.
